May Apple with leaf in the middle and buds on the verge
As it is still April, the May Apples in Frick Park are budding, but not yet in bloom. They always seem to wait. The interesting discovery was a patch of May Apple plants with what looks like a small leaf growing out of the middle of the top of the big leaf. There was a patch of five or so like this, but just this one patch, despite the park blanketed with May Apples everywhere.
